NEW LEXUS ES INDIA LAUNCH CONFIRMED FOR MARCH 20 - EXPECTED PRICE, SPECS AND FEATURES

The new Lexus ES is all set to make its entry into the Indian market on March 20, with updates in design, features and technology. The reason why the launch of the new-gen Lexus ES is important is that the ES is one of the few luxury sedans available in the market with a hybrid power source. The Lexus ES currently finds its place in the mid-size luxury sedan segment where it faces competition from other sedans such as the BMW 5 series, Mercedes Benz E Class and the Audi A6. For Indian buyers looking for a petrol-electric luxury sedan with lower running costs than traditional petrol models, the ES remains a key option in the premium segment.

Exterior Design Updates

The upcoming Lexus ES will retain its overall silhouette but receive minor design revisions. Changes will include a revised spindle grille, updated front bumper detailing and slightly reworked LED headlamps. At the rear, the sedan will get updated taillamp elements with a full-width LED lightbar and subtle bumper changes. Alloy wheel designs are also refreshed for a sporty look. These visual updates are typical for a mid-cycle refresh and are intended to keep the model visually aligned with newer Lexus vehicles globally.

Dimensionally, the sedan is comparatively longer, wider and taller than before. The wheelbase has also grown which means there will be more interior space.

Interior And Feature Updates

The cabin of the Lexus ES is also expected to see some updates, and these updates are likely to be related to infotainment and comfort features. The Lexus ES may offer a larger touchscreen display for the infotainment system with improved connectivity options.

The other features of the Lexus ES may include wireless connectivity for smartphones, a digital instrument display, ventilated seats, a premium sound system and advanced climate control features. Lexus may also offer safety features such as multiple airbags, stability control and driver assistance features, among others, depending on the variant of the car.

Powertrain And Expected Price

The India-spec Lexus ES is likely to retain the ES 300h powertrain option which will feature a hybrid setup comprising a 2.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. It will provide high fuel efficiency compared to regular petrol engines used in luxury sedans.

The powertrain will be paired with an e-CVT automatic gearbox and is designed to provide smooth driving and high fuel efficiency, which has been one of the major factors behind the popularity of the Lexus ES among buyers in India.

As far as pricing is concerned, the updated Lexus ES is likely to be priced between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom) when the car makes its way in the country on March 20.
