SKODA SLAVIA FACELIFT TEASED AHEAD OF AUGUST 18 LAUNCH: HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT

Skoda is all set to give the Slavia a mid-life update in India. The Czech carmaker has released the first teaser of the facelifted sedan ahead of its official launch on August 18. The updated Slavia is expected to get styling changes, more features and a major transmission upgrade for the 1.0 TSI variant.

Skoda Slavia Facelift: Expected Design Changes

The Slavia facelift is expected to receive subtle styling changes as part of its mid-cycle update. Based on earlier spy shots, the sedan could get revised headlamp units, updated fog lamp housings and redesigned bumpers.

The front grille is also likely to be updated, with integrated lighting elements similar to those seen on the facelifted Kushaq. Skoda could also introduce freshly designed alloy wheels to give the sedan a more refreshed appearance.

Skoda Slavia Facelift: Expected Cabin Features

The overall dashboard layout of the Slavia is expected to remain largely unchanged. However, Skoda could introduce a larger 10.25-inch digital driver's display and new seat upholstery.

Another feature that could make its way to the Slavia is a rear-seat massage function. This feature was introduced with the Kushaq facelift earlier this year, although Skoda is yet to confirm whether it will be offered on the updated sedan.

Existing features such as a sunroof, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, six airbags and a tyre-pressure monitoring system are expected to continue.

Skoda Slavia Facelift: Expected Engine and Gearbox

The facelifted Slavia is expected to retain its current petrol engine lineup. This includes the 116bhp 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol and the 152bhp 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines.

The 1.0 TSI is expected to continue with a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, the biggest mechanical update could be the automatic transmission. Skoda is likely to replace the existing 6-speed AQ250 automatic with an 8-speed AQ300 automatic gearbox, which was introduced with the facelifted Kushaq.

The more powerful 1.5 TSI engine is expected to continue with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

Skoda Slavia Facelift: Expected Price and Rivals

The current Skoda Slavia is priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom). With the updates, a slight price increase is expected when the facelift arrives next week.

The updated Slavia will continue to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus in India's midsize sedan segment.
